Colorize B & W Photos - It's so easy to colorize areas of b&w photos. First, open an image in PSP and convert it to b&w if necessary using 'Colors | Grey Scale'. Then, increase the color depth to 24 bit (16 million colors) from 'Colors | Increase Color Depth'. Brighten your picture if necessary. Using the lasso tool, setting 'Smart Edge' enclose the area you want to color (example 2). Select the paint bucket tool, transparency to 30, and choose a foreground color or make a custom one.

That's about all there is to it! You can create a separate layer for each color you want for greater control.
